There have been reports of the Gen3 seat belt unlatching from around child or infant car seats. In these cases, the bouncing or shifting of a child in a child seat appears to press the edge of the seat or the base of the seat against the Gen3 button, releasing the belt securing the seat to the vehicle.

This video shows how the Gen3 seat belt secured around a child or infant car seat may release when two child seats are belted next to each other. The bouncing or shifting of a child sitting in a child seat may inadvertently depress the button of the safety belt securing the other child seat sitting directly beside it. Reports indicate that even a single child seat can unlatch the Gen3 buckle.

If you have experienced accidental release of a Gen3 safety belt from around an infant or child car seat, please fill out and submit the Tell Us Your Story form contained in this web site.
